Forgotten Memories- Epilogue

It has been a year since I confessed to Nino. I’m still working as a music producer and busy writing lyrics everyday. Nothing much has changed, but once a week, I go out on dates with Nino. I’m still living in room 1714. In the near future, we might live in a house together.

Miki, my friend from Osaka came down to Tokyo for her birthday. I told her that she will meet Arashi. She fainted when she first saw them. I still haven’t told her that Nino is my boyfriend, but it’s okay because she idolizes the Do-S prince, MatsuJun. She had a great birthday and wants to come down to Tokyo on her birthday, every year.

Arashi released a song that I wanted them to have. “The Circle of Friendship.” It was a big hit and I was put to make songs for their kouheis. Hey! Say! JUMP.

Me and Nino made a promise to each other that we will go see Kaoko-san every year, together. Then maybe one year, we can tell her that we’re getting married...

“Love” is to have a profoundly tender, passionate affection for (another person).

The End

Forgotten Memories- Chapter 21

I opened my eyes and I noticed that I was staring at a white ceiling. I tried to sit up but I felt this sudden pain coming from my back and legs. “Itai.” I muttered and someone said. “Don’t strain yourself.” I looked beside me and it was Nino sitting in a chair. “Ah, where am I?” He grabbed my hand and said. “You’re in a hospital. You were unconscious because you weren’t eating properly.” I slowly got up and Nino placed a pillow behind me. “How long was I asleep?” He looked up as he was thinking and said. “Hmm.. 3 days now.” Then a nurse came in with a cart of needles. She looked surprised when she found out that I was awake. “Ah, you're awake. Sumimasen, you need to take a shot now.” I nodded and then the nurse came over to me and rolled up my sleeve. I looked away while she put the needle in and then she left. Nino was sitting in a chair, watching me.

“Nino-kun, what about your dramas and TV shows?” I asked as he stared at me. “I’m done filming the dramas and the TV shows, I won’t start until next week. I have 2 days off.” I smiled and said. “What about that other members?” He took my hand and said. “They came in yesterday to see you but you were still sleeping.” I nodded and yawned. “That shot makes me so...sleepy.” He giggled and then whispered to me. “You should have some rest. I’ll be here when you wake up.” I nodded to him and said. “Oyasumi.” I slouched down and went to sleep. Then I felt someone kissing my forehead. I smiled and fell asleep.

The next morning, the doctors wanted to make sure that I was okay to leave. I had to go into many rooms that I got a slight headache. Nino was there beside me, the whole entire time. The four members of Arashi had visited me in the afternoon. They were happy that we both made up, after the whole incident about me, I had totally forgotten about that until the baka, Aiba brought it up. They brought some cakes and fruit to cheer me up and wanted me to get better.

“Arigato for bringing food for me. I’ll be leaving the hospital soon and I’ll treat you guys to some dinner.” They shouted. “Yatta!” Then they left, leaving me and Nino alone.

“It’s great that you have friends like them.” I smiled and Nino asked. “Hm? What do you mean?” I turned my face to look at him and said. “Friends like them will always be with you no matter what. If you get in trouble or do something bad, they will believe you know no matter what other people say.” He sat on a chair beside my bed and grabbed my hands with both of his hands, then said. “I’ll do more than believe in you, I’ll protect and care for you because I really love you. Ever since I met you in elementary you’re the first girl, I’ve ever liked.” I smiled and said. “When I met you in elementary school, I always had a image of you being a spoiled brat and likes to pick on people. Ever since you explained the word “love” to me, my mind has changed. Now I think of you as a caring and kind person who will look after others. I’m really happy that I met you.”

“Eh.. So you thought of me as a spoiled brat and likes to pick on people?” We laughed and I said. “Arigato, Nino. For everything.” He smiled and then got up and walked to the window. He was looking at the orange and purple sunset. I got up and walked behind. He heard my footsteps and turned around. I embraced him and whispered into his ear. “I love you too, Nino.”

The door opened, Arashi and some nurses and doctors fell out. I let go of Nino and he walked forward. He shouted. “Why are you guys still here? Why is the doctors and nurses eavesdropping too? Shouldn’t you guys check up on the patients?” The doctors and nurses scurried away and the four members were left to take the blame.

“Why were you eavesdropping on us?” Nino screamed at them. They looked down and I walked up to Nino. I said and folded my arms. “I guess they found out. But I can ask Johnny-san not to let me work with you guys. Then I can give my songs to Nino-kun and his solo cd will be a huge success.” They waved their hands and Aiba said. “Include us. We never saw anything.” Then I looked at Ohno who still looked like he was day-dreaming “Leader, have anything to say?” I asked him as I raised my eyebrow. Then we paused waiting for him to response. “Gomenasai! We won’t tell anyone. Please work with us again.” He quickly bowed and even got on the floor. He took me seriously, we laughed and I said. “Leader, calm down. I was joking. It’s really fun to work with you guys, I bet I’ll be helping you guys on your next single.” They smiled and some nodded. I glanced at Nino who was smiling with them. “Yosh! Since I’m getting a lot of ideas. I’m going to compose a song.” They stared at me and I walked towards the bed and took out a piece of paper from the side table drawers and wrote down some lyrics. Sho said. “She is a really hard worker. Is it okay to be with her?” Then Nino smiled and looked at them. “Love means no matter what happens to the other person, you will stay by her side, forever.” They shrugged their shoulders and looked at me, who was busy writing down ideas.

Forgotten Memories- Chapter 20

“Now, I like to ask you about your relationship with Ninomiya Kazunari-san.” I nodded and smiled. “It’s a long story, would you mind listening to it?” He nodded and I started to tell my story. “When I was 7 years old, I just had lost my parents to a terrible car crash. I had to move from Yokohama to Tokyo to live with my okaasan’s best friend. I transferred to the elementary school that was nearby. That’s how I met Ninomiya Kazunari-san. He was friends with everyone in the class.” I giggled and continued. “He was friends with everyone except for me. I don’t why I hated him but I just hated him. I guess because he didn’t show any weaknesses. He was always smiling and happy. We went to middle school and high school together. Somehow, we were always in the same class.” I smiled and then looked right into the interviewer’s face. “One day, he saved me. I was about to get hurt and he saved me even though I treated him as dirt. Then we made a bet on how many love letters we could get. He won but I had to leave to Osaka. I changed my perspective of him.” I stopped talking, then the interviewer smiled and asked hastily. “What happened to the bet?” I smiled and said. “I’ll leave it as a secret.” A few more questions were asked and then I was done being interviewed. The photographer took some shots of me and they left.

I sighed and scratched my head. I muttered. “Being in this business is really tiring..” I grabbed my stuff and I walked down to Arashi’s dressing room to tell Nino about the interview. As I was about to touch the door handle. There was a little opening. I peeked inside to see Nino and beside him was…a girl. They were kissing. I moved to the side and felt my heart throbbing really hard. What is this feeling? Nino is just a friend..right? I cried and ran away from the scene. Then I heard the other 4 members, laughing. “Hey, Sakura-chan?” I just ran passed them crying and tried to heal my confused heart.

I stayed under my bed sheets for a week. My cell phone rang off the hook and I kept getting messages from my answering machine. They were all from him. There were several knocks on the door and it was Nino screaming to let him talk to me. I hid under my sheets and listened to calming music. My heart was broken, I don’t even know why but I felt like I wanted to commit suicide.

I stayed in my bed, 2 weeks passed and a text message from Ohno came up. Ohno? What does he want? I opened the message.

Sakura-chan,

The four of us are worried about you. When we walked into our dressing room, we were surprised too. Nino-kun wants to explain himself to you. He’ll meet you at the rooftop of the Johnny’s building at 8:00 p.m. He’ll stay there until you come.

I stared at my screen. Why? Why Nino? Why are you doing this to me? I covered up again and started to sleep.

I woke up and it was 9:00 p.m. I had a gut feeling that Nino was still there on the rooftop. I slowly got out of my bed and walked towards the building.

I took the elevator up and climbed up some stairs, then I saw him. He was shivering and rubbing himself. He was staring out into the full moon. I walked a few steps and I made a sound. He turned around and shouted. “You’re late, Sakura-chan!” I just frowned and walked towards him. “Why are you here so late? I know its summer but the nights are really cold.” He smiled and said. “I wanted you to come, I want to tell you something.”

“Please, can we not talk about it. Let’s just stay as…friends.” I faked a smile as I extended my hand in front of me, trying to hold back my tears. Nino shouted. “No, I really want to tell you the truth!” I laughed and said. “What truth? I know you like that girl. Congratulations, you look like a wonderful couple. So, when are you guys getting married?” I smiled and then he looked serious. He suddenly kissed me on the lips.

I suddenly froze. He stopped kissing me and his lips were off mine. I stayed quiet. Then Nino said. “Let me explain. Give me some time to explain myself.” I nodded and he said. “That girl you saw me kissing, that girl was our choreographer’s assistant. She had a big crush on me. When we both were in Arashi’s dressing room, alone. She suddenly kissed me. When you saw me, that moment was when she suddenly kissed me. I pushed her away as I saw Aiba opening the door. They told me that you ran off, but I had to do something else.” I looked at him, he was relieved that I heard the whole thing. I asked. “What happened to the girl?” Then he frowned and said. “Johnny-san fired that girl and I never saw her again.”

“Oh, is that it? Or do you have something else to tell me? I wasn't worried about that...” He stared right into my eyes and slowly placed his hands on my shoulder. He smiled and said. “I love you, Sakura.” I looked at him, without moving an inch. I stared at him and then he leaned forward and he kissed me passionately. After kissing me, he took off his lips from mine. I smiled and the next thing, I was in a cave of darkness.

Forgotten Memories- Chapter 19

“Ohno-san, is that you?” I asked over the phone. “Yo, Sakura-chan. Nino-kun is busy right now but I can take a message.” Then I hesitated. Nino’s busy so he wouldn’t be able to get to a TV. I sighed in relief but I wanted to make sure. “Ohno-san, did Nino-kun see the news today or read today’s newspaper.” There was a sudden pause. “Ohno-san?” I got a reply back. “Ah, hai. He is picking up today’s newspaper right now.” I froze, then shouted. “Don’t let him see the entertainment section. Hurry before he reads about..” I heard Ohno shouting to him. “Sakura-chan, doesn’t want you to see today’s newspaper.” Nino shouted back. “Why?” Then Ohno asked over the phone. “Why?” I grabbed my purse again and asked Ohno. “Where are you guys?” Ohno replied. “We’re at the old Yamada button factory, filming our new PV...” I shouted back. “Stay still, I’ll be there in a second.”

I quickly locked my door and ran as fast as I could to the old button factory. I pushed the people who were in my way and I saw 2 big bodyguards chasing after me. I saw Arashi looking at me. I stopped and then the 2 bodyguards were about to take me outside. Sho said to the bodyguards. “She is with us.” They let go and I quickly grabbed the newspaper. I sighed. “Good thing I made here in time. Nino-kun turn around.” He turned around and I flipped the page open to the other members who immediately dropped their jaws as they read the headline. “Hollywood’s Ninomiya has a girlfriend.”

Nino didn’t listen to me and ran up and grabbed the newspaper from me. “I told you to turn around.” He ignored me. I said. “That picture was taken when we were in Osaka.” They all felt frustrated. I said. “I’ll call Johnny-san and explain this to him.” Then I faced Nino who was reading the article. “Nino-kun this isn’t your fault, you just wanted to see Kaoko-san. I’ll try to patch this things up in no time.” I flipped my phone open and dial to Johnny-san.

Moshi-moshi.
Ah, Johnny-san, did you read today’s newspaper?
Hai, I’ve read it. I’m surprised that you’re going out with Nino-kun.
Iie, you got the wrong idea. Nino-kun was accompany me.
Well, they blocked out your face so you should be safe for now.
For now?
These pictures will be leaked out to the internet and your face will be shown.
Johnny-san, this isn’t Nino-kun's fault. He just wanted to see an old friend.
Okay, I understand, I’ll try to stop these pictures from spreading to the public and I'll use my power to the stop the rumors. Can you do me a favor though?
Hai, what is it?
No matter how hard the press hits you, don’t blame yourself. You always have at least someone to rely on.
What do you mean?
You’ll find out soon. I have to go now.
Okay. Bye-bye.

I turned around and the guys were sitting in their chairs, thinking about the situation. “I just finished talking to Johnny-san.” They looked up and Sho asked. “What did he say?” I smiled and said. “Johnny-san will try to stop the rumors and any pictures of us that might leak on the internet.” They sighed in relief and I walked up to Nino. “Gomenasai. It’s my fault that there are rumours about you.” I bowed my head and I bit my lower lip as I walked away from Arashi.

I walked to my apartment to find reporters surrounded the front entrance of the apartment complex. I sneaked in through the back door and climbed up the stairs to my apartment room. I unlocked my door and noticed that there was a lot of letters concerning an interview with me. I threw them in the garbage bin and didn’t want to even check my answering machine. I sighed and threw myself on my bed.

I took out my keyboard and sang a song. The song that I sang in front of everyone.

~Arigatou to kimi ni iwareru to nandaka setsunai
sayounara no ato no tokenu mahou awaku horonigai
The flavor of life~

I stopped and then I put away my keyboard, I grabbed my pillow and started cry.

I woke up early the next day because of the interview. I sneaked through the back door again and took a taxi to the Johnny & Associates building, where the press was waiting for my arrival. There was bodyguards to help me get through to the building. While I was walking to my office, there was a lot of people staring at me. I lowered my head and continued to walk to my office.

I saw a lot of papers on my desk and I tidied up so it will look presentable. A few minutes later after I was done cleaning, Johnny-san had come down to see how I was doing. I showed him a small smile and then he told me that the interviewer had asked if I was comfortable if they asked me about my relationship with Nino. I assured that I was okay because this was my only chance to tell the whole country my story.

Forgotten Memories- Chapter 18

We stopped kissing and I got embarrassed. I tucked myself in bed and thought about our kiss. I wrapped the blankets around me and Nino turned off the lights and slept on his futon. That night, I had a hard time sleeping. I kept thinking about our kiss and how he kissed me back. Then at 2:00 a.m. I finally got the chance to sleep.

The next morning, we didn’t say anything to each other. We walked into a flower shop and I got a bouquet of sunflowers, they were Kaoko-san’s favorite. I took Nino to her grave. He became sad when he saw the gravestone. I bent down and placed the sunflowers on the stone. We said our prayers and left.

It was awkward, ever since the kiss. This time, I actually kissed him back. Irritated, I finally broke our silence between dinner at a fancy restaurant. “How is your okaasan? I bet she is worried about you.” He smiled and said. “Okaasan is doing great, you should visit her.” I nodded and said. “Um.. You know last night. I finally knew what “love” means.” He looked up and asked. “Oh, really? What does it mean then.” I smiled and looked deep into his eyes. “Finding someone that you would sacrifice anything for them and you would want that person in your life, forever.” He giggled and continued to smile. “Are you sure you didn’t get that definition from a dictionary.” I laughed and looked to the side. “Maybe.”

We walked to our hotel room and I immediately fell asleep on my bed. The next morning, I woke up and stretch out my arms, then I felt something beside me. “What the..” I uncovered the other side of the bed and I saw Nino like a cat sleeping beside me. I screamed. “What!” When he heard my scream, he rolled over and fell onto the floor. I wrapped the blanket around me and checked my clothes. I was still wearing them. I sighed and shouted to Nino who stood up. “Explain yourself! Why were you sleeping beside me?” Then he scratched his head and said. “You fell asleep when we walked back from the restaurant. I was about to put the blanket on you when I accidentally slipped. Then I fell on you and I rolled over the other side of the bed. I was tired too so I decided that I would sleep beside you.”

I started to turn red. My face started to sweat and began to turn into a tomato. I got up and rushed to the bathroom. I splashed some cold water on my face and said to myself. “Why? Why am I stuck with him!” I decided to take a shower before the ride back to Tokyo. I finished my warm shower and started to pack up my things. Nino took a shower after me and I tried to pack up my other things. We left and split the cost of the hotel. We climbed aboard on a bus and waited until the bus stopped in Tokyo.

To out surprise, someone was waiting for us. We were greeted with happy faces coming from the other members of Arashi. “How was the trip?” Jun asked me. I replied back. “It was fun. I was happy that I remembered everything about Osaka. Now I’m back in Tokyo, I’ll be busy again.” They smiled and Ohno and Aiba had their arms around Nino who was looking at them. “Anything exciting happened?” Aiba asked as he nudged to Nino. We both waved our hands and said. “Nothing happened.” They knew that we were lying. “No tell us. We want to hear about it.” Jun said. “Nothing happened.” I replied back. They shrugged their shoulders and Sho said. “Nino-kun, you better get back to your filming. You missed a lot of scenes and the director is angry at you for leaving like that.” Nino nodded and dashed off. I walked in the other direction but someone had their hand on my shoulder. I turned around and it was Sho who was smirking, along with the other members. “Aren’t you forgetting about something?” I looked at them and I tried to run away from them but there was a crowd blocking my way. Jun and Aiba grabbed my arms and dragged me into a cafĂ©. They were dying to squeeze some juicy stories from me about me and Nino.

“That’s the story, I better go you guys.” I got up and grabbed my bag. I told them the boring parts because knowing them, they would tease Nino if they knew that we kissed. I left the store and I noticed someone was following me. I fasten my walking pace. I walked to the park and as I passed by a store window, I saw the 4 bakas members of Arashi following my every step. I sighed and I started to run. They ran as they followed me and I decided to trick them. I suddenly turned into a dead corner and turned around to see Arashi.

“Why were you spying on me?” I said as I walked up to them. “Spying? No we weren’t spying. We were just worried about you.” I nodded and said. “Oh, really? Is that it? You were just worried about me.” They nodded and I said. “I’m fine, as you can see. I have to go.” I waved to them and then they stopped following me.

My phone rang and I noticed that there was no caller-id. I picked it up and said “Moshi-moshi.”

Ah, Matsuda-san. I have great news for you.
A magazine that writes about Japan’s best music producer, wants to write an article about you.
Ah, really? That’s great news, Johnny-san.
They’re going to interview you tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. In your office.
Are they going to take pictures of me?
Hai, they will take few shots of you. Why?
Oh, nothing. I guess I’ll see you tomorrow then.
Matsuda-san?
Hai? What is it?
If you’re uncomfortable with taking pictures, I can ask them to not take shots.
No, I’m fine with taking pictures but then everyone will recognize my face and I wouldn’t be able to go out in public as freely.
Matsuda-san, I’m the famous Johnny. I’ll protect you.
I laughed. Arigato, I’ll be busy but working as a music producer is a great job. Working with the famous Johnny, is a dream come true.
Hai, I’ll talk to you later then.
Hai. Bye-bye.

I closed my phone and walked towards my apartment. I threw my bags on my bed and turned on the TV. “Apparently, Arashi member Ninomiya Kazunari, who is 25 years old. Has been hanging out with a unknown girl.” The reporter said. I ran to the screen and stared at the picture they showed. It was when we were in Osaka, at the fancy restaurant. We were having dinner and the picture showed Nino’s face but my face was blurred out. “Rumors say that this lady is Matsuda Sakura, the music producer who launched Naomi’s debut CD in 2007. We are trying to get hold of a representative of Johnny & Associates but there is no word yet. We will keep an update on this story through-out the day.” I grabbed my cell phone and called Nino. Someone picked up and I asked. “Nino?”
