Forgotten Memories- Chapter 20

“Now, I like to ask you about your relationship with Ninomiya Kazunari-san.” I nodded and smiled. “It’s a long story, would you mind listening to it?” He nodded and I started to tell my story. “When I was 7 years old, I just had lost my parents to a terrible car crash. I had to move from Yokohama to Tokyo to live with my okaasan’s best friend. I transferred to the elementary school that was nearby. That’s how I met Ninomiya Kazunari-san. He was friends with everyone in the class.” I giggled and continued. “He was friends with everyone except for me. I don’t why I hated him but I just hated him. I guess because he didn’t show any weaknesses. He was always smiling and happy. We went to middle school and high school together. Somehow, we were always in the same class.” I smiled and then looked right into the interviewer’s face. “One day, he saved me. I was about to get hurt and he saved me even though I treated him as dirt. Then we made a bet on how many love letters we could get. He won but I had to leave to Osaka. I changed my perspective of him.” I stopped talking, then the interviewer smiled and asked hastily. “What happened to the bet?” I smiled and said. “I’ll leave it as a secret.” A few more questions were asked and then I was done being interviewed. The photographer took some shots of me and they left.

I sighed and scratched my head. I muttered. “Being in this business is really tiring..” I grabbed my stuff and I walked down to Arashi’s dressing room to tell Nino about the interview. As I was about to touch the door handle. There was a little opening. I peeked inside to see Nino and beside him was…a girl. They were kissing. I moved to the side and felt my heart throbbing really hard. What is this feeling? Nino is just a friend..right? I cried and ran away from the scene. Then I heard the other 4 members, laughing. “Hey, Sakura-chan?” I just ran passed them crying and tried to heal my confused heart.

I stayed under my bed sheets for a week. My cell phone rang off the hook and I kept getting messages from my answering machine. They were all from him. There were several knocks on the door and it was Nino screaming to let him talk to me. I hid under my sheets and listened to calming music. My heart was broken, I don’t even know why but I felt like I wanted to commit suicide.

I stayed in my bed, 2 weeks passed and a text message from Ohno came up. Ohno? What does he want? I opened the message.

Sakura-chan,

The four of us are worried about you. When we walked into our dressing room, we were surprised too. Nino-kun wants to explain himself to you. He’ll meet you at the rooftop of the Johnny’s building at 8:00 p.m. He’ll stay there until you come.

I stared at my screen. Why? Why Nino? Why are you doing this to me? I covered up again and started to sleep.

I woke up and it was 9:00 p.m. I had a gut feeling that Nino was still there on the rooftop. I slowly got out of my bed and walked towards the building.

I took the elevator up and climbed up some stairs, then I saw him. He was shivering and rubbing himself. He was staring out into the full moon. I walked a few steps and I made a sound. He turned around and shouted. “You’re late, Sakura-chan!” I just frowned and walked towards him. “Why are you here so late? I know its summer but the nights are really cold.” He smiled and said. “I wanted you to come, I want to tell you something.”

“Please, can we not talk about it. Let’s just stay as…friends.” I faked a smile as I extended my hand in front of me, trying to hold back my tears. Nino shouted. “No, I really want to tell you the truth!” I laughed and said. “What truth? I know you like that girl. Congratulations, you look like a wonderful couple. So, when are you guys getting married?” I smiled and then he looked serious. He suddenly kissed me on the lips.

I suddenly froze. He stopped kissing me and his lips were off mine. I stayed quiet. Then Nino said. “Let me explain. Give me some time to explain myself.” I nodded and he said. “That girl you saw me kissing, that girl was our choreographer’s assistant. She had a big crush on me. When we both were in Arashi’s dressing room, alone. She suddenly kissed me. When you saw me, that moment was when she suddenly kissed me. I pushed her away as I saw Aiba opening the door. They told me that you ran off, but I had to do something else.” I looked at him, he was relieved that I heard the whole thing. I asked. “What happened to the girl?” Then he frowned and said. “Johnny-san fired that girl and I never saw her again.”

“Oh, is that it? Or do you have something else to tell me? I wasn't worried about that...” He stared right into my eyes and slowly placed his hands on my shoulder. He smiled and said. “I love you, Sakura.” I looked at him, without moving an inch. I stared at him and then he leaned forward and he kissed me passionately. After kissing me, he took off his lips from mine. I smiled and the next thing, I was in a cave of darkness.
