Forgotten Memories- Chapter 3

The bell rung and it was my time to shine. Helping many sport clubs was my job...I guess. First I had to help out with the soccer club, then the tennis club, basketball team and all these clubs that desperately needed my help. I sighed and packed up my things. From the corner of my eye, I saw Nino staring at me. I grabbed my bag and walked towards the door. Then I suddenly stopped and said to Nino. “I still remembered the bet so don’t worry, I’ll win for sure.” I snickered and then walked to the soccer field.

Every time I play a sport, I feel like I’m floating on air. I gather up courage and confidence from playing sports which helps me control my emotions. That is a good thing in my case. By the time I finished playing or helping all the teams who wanted me, I was extremely exhausted.

I left school and was heading to my house. Then I heard someone coming up to me. Scared, I quickly fasten my walking pace and soon I was almost running home. I finally reached my house and locked the front door behind me. Then I changed into some comfy clothes. I gazed at the scene through my window, there was an orange sunset that was behind a building. I started to day dream. I snapped out and stopped admiring the beautiful sunset. Then grabbed my money and my cell phone and walked towards the local convenience store.

I grabbed some instant and packaged dinner and started to walk home. Then I suddenly bumped into someone. I fell hard onto the ground. “Itai” I mumbled as I was rubbing my butt.

“Gomenasai.” Then the person hand’s came forward. I said. “It’s okay.” I slowly looked up to see Nino’s face right in front of mine. I mumbled and frowned. “Oh, its you..”

He smirked and said sarcastically. “I’m happy to see you too.” I slapped his hands away from me and got up. “Ja ne.” Without saying anything else I started to walk away from him.

“Remember our bet, the person who gets the most letters tomorrow wins!” He smiled and waved goodbye to me.

I gave him a little wave and then continued walking home. By the time I reached home, it had turned dark. I sighed and then opened my door, to find Kaoko-san inside watching TV. I locked the door and slipped on my slippers.

She was eating ice cream and crying while she was trying to laugh at a gag. “What is wrong now, Kaoko-san? Did you break-up with your boyfriend again?” I sighed and placed my dinner on the kitchen counter.

She didn’t turn around to show me her face, she was frozen. “Kaoko-san, what is wrong? If it is your boyfriend, I’ll punch him. Tell me what happened!” I ran up to her and was staring at her head from behind the couch.

She slowly turned her head to me and then stopped eating her ice cream. “Um.. Sakura-chan, I have some news to tell you.” Her nose was red and there was used tissues everywhere around the couch.

I sighed and asked. “Didn’t you hear me from the third time? Okay, what is the news about?”

She hesitated and then she put down her ice cream and spoon on the coffee table. She got up and walked towards me, I could tell that she was crying for an hour. Her eyes were bright red and swollen.

“Kaoko-chan, what is it? I keep asking you questions but you didn’t reply to them yet!” I shouted again. I hate it when Kaoko-san keeps secrets from me or especially when she tries to delay from telling me, like in this situation.

She put left hand on her right arm and then looked away from my face. “Sakura-chan, we have to move.” She mumbled with a sad look on her face.

I gasped and I widened my eyes. “Kaoko-san, before I freak out more, please tell me your story. To make sure I understand your situation.”

Kaoko-san cleared her voice and then walked back over to the sofa and sat down. “It all started when I was copying files for the boss...”

Yosh, 30 files copied and now I have to record stuff. I grabbed the pile of papers and started to walk over to my desk.

Then I heard someone calling my name. “Kaoko-san, Kaoko-san.” It was the boss calling me.

I put the copied files on my desk and ran over to the boss who was having a smoke. “Hai, sir?”

He grinned as he looked up at me and then said. “The company president wants to transfer you to the Osaka chain. You’ll be moving in a week.”

I suddenly fell onto the ground and then my boss shouted. “Kaoko-san are you okay?” I was frozen, I felt like everything and everyone had stopped moving around me.

“That is my story Sakura-chan. I hope I didn’t hurt your feelings, you know what. I’ll quit my job and find a new one.” She stood up and was about to grab the phone when I stopped her by the wrist.

“Kaoko-san, it was hard to look for a job like that one. I understand, I’ll move. I’m not mad but I’m a bit surprised. I’ll tell the school tomorrow about our move.” I said in a calm tone. I wasn't upset, well I will be sad that I won't graduate with everyone but this was fate.

She nodded and then dragged her feet into her bedroom. I sighed and cleaned up the mess that she made. I stored the ice cream back into the fridge and then washed her spoon. I lost my appetite and placed the food in the fridge. I turned off the television and then I decided to clean off the news in the bathtub.
