Forgotten Memories- Chapter 17

Four days before I left to go to Osaka, I left a Nino a note on his door saying that I’ll be visiting Kaoko-san on Saturday. He didn’t reply so I thought that he was busy to reply back. I booked to stay at a hotel for the 3 days and 2 nights that I’ll be in Osaka. I gather my packed luggage and got on board on a travel bus that traveled directly to Osaka. Suddenly I heard someone screaming to stop the bus. To my surprise, I noticed it was Nino with a bad disguise on.

I giggled and then he walked to the empty seat beside mine. “I thought you couldn’t make it.” I whispered to him. “Gomen. I was caught up with filming a drama that I forgot to tell you that I’m coming.” I smiled and said. “It’s going to be a long bus ride.” He looked at me and pulled out a Nintendo DS. Then I showed him my iPod. Then he asked me. “Do you have anything to drink? I’m so thirsty from running from the shoot.” I looked at him and widened my eyes. “Wait, did you suddenly left your filming without telling anyone?” He nodded and turned on his DS. I gave him a water bottle and asked. “Shouldn’t you at least tell the other members?” He took out his phone and called someone. It was loud enough that I overheard his conversation.

Moshi-moshi, Sho-chan?
Nino-kun, where are you?
I’m on a bus leaving to Osaka. I have Sakura-chan sitting beside me. I whispered. “Ninomiya-san, don’t get me involved.”
Nino-kun you better come back. We have 2 more filmings today and we have more this week. We can’t afford you to run off somewhere.
I’ll make it up to you guys okay. I have to go somewhere with Sakura-chan. I’ll be back in three days.
You also have your drama filming too.
I’ll be fine, I’ll work over-time for the time I lost.
Nino-kun, why didn’t you tell us that you were leaving?
I knew you guys wouldn’t let me go so I had to sneak my way out.
You better make sure that you’ll definitely be at our TV show filming in three days.
Hai, hai.
Fine, bye.
Bye-bye~

Nino hung up and I pretended that I didn’t eavesdrop on his conversation. He looked over to me and asked. “Want to see some magic?” I looked over to him and nodded. He pulled out a stack of cards and showed me some magic tricks, I was completely amazed. “When did you take up magic, Ninomiya-san?”

He stared at me and said. “Call me Nino or Nino-kun, we both knew each other since elementary school.” I nodded and he continued. “I had spare time on my hands and I was always amazed by magic so I decided to learn some card tricks.” I nodded and said. “Oh, I see.” Then he smiled at me and asked. “What song are you listening to?” I showed him my iPod screen and it was his song. “Actually, I became addicted to this song..” He laughed and I laughed with him.

After the long bus ride, we left immediately to the hotel. I walked to the front desk and asked for my key. Then Nino tried to book a room. “Can I book a room please?” The lady bowed her head and said. “Gomenasai, we have people coming for the noodles convention. All the rooms are booked.” He sighed and the lady said. “Since you’re with your girlfriend why don’t you share a room.” We both shouted. “EHH!” I shook my head and said. “Ma’am, this short guy here isn’t my boyfriend.” Then Nino said. “Who would have a girlfriend like her? Are you sure there are no more rooms left?” She nodded and then we walked towards the waiting area. I sighed and gave up. “Nino-kun, you can sleep in the same room with me but on one condition. You will have to sleep on the floor. It’s my room so I get to sleep on the bed.” He frowned and said. “Fine.”

We reached to our hotel room. I dropped my stuff on my bed and Nino threw his bag on the chair. I shouted while Nino looked in the bathroom. “Why don’t we go shopping? It’s still early and most of the shops are still open.” He smiled at me and we both walked to the streets of Osaka hoping we can find something good to buy.

In the end, I bought some shirts and Nino bought some souvenirs. We ate at a ramen shop and headed back to the hotel after we finish eating. I took a quick shower and Nino was watching television. I got out and asked him while drying my hair. “What are you watching?” He laughed and said. “A comedy show.” I nodded and then sat on my bed. I noticed that Nino had already set up his futon on the floor.

Nino was sitting on a chair and I brought up a question that I wanted to ask him for a long time now. “How was school after I left for Osaka?”

He stopped smiling, he kept staring at the screen and he had no expressions on his face. “School was boring after you left. The sport clubs started to lose matches. The student council president committed suicide because he began to hang out with the wrong crowd. The school was a mess. You were the only one that made the whole school a school.” He faced me, I was thinking about everyone. They wanted to have their dreams jobs but because of me, everyone turned out the opposite.

I started to cry, I placed my hands on my face and cried. Nino came over and comfort me. “Why did I move? Why is everything my fault!? Why do these things happen to the people around me!? I don’t understand.” Then Nino slowly held up my chin and kissed me on the lips. Then I closed my eyes and kissed him back. Knowing that he was here for me and for some reason I knew what the word “love” meant.
